Questions and AnswersQuestions and Answers
Q: Is it a salvage title (2/19/20 9:12 AM)
A: It is currently a clean title but the box that says "has been in a collision and the repair will exceed 25% of the fair market value" will be checked "yes" when transferring it over to the high bidder. (2/19/20 11:07 AM)
Q: Would it be possible to snap a picture of the emissions sticker located in the engine bay? (2/21/20 5:40 PM)
A: I will try to get that done for you today or tomorrow. (2/26/20 7:34 AM)
Q: Can you please clarify on your answer to the last question? Does that mean the title may be marked salvaged after you check that box, or will it just put an accident on its record? (2/21/20 6:42 PM)
A: I do not have the answer to that question. Please check with NCDMV to find out the correct answer to that one. (2/24/20 4:33 PM)
Q: How was the damage value determined? Based on checking the box as an accident greater than 25%, the town must have had an estimate completed at a body shop. Please post a scan of the estimate so we as buyers can better understand damage not shown in pics. Pics don’t show frame damage or airbag deployment which would usually qualify the 25% or salvage marking. Thanks! (2/25/20 4:50 PM)
A: We replaced some suspension/steering parts, rim and tire on the left front just so we could drive it around. After that, the initial estimate from one body shop was $4,940.82 and a second body shop was $5,146.33 (using all OEM parts). We sent it to the low bid for repairs and they added another $3,954.56 supplement once they tore it down. It was not in the City's best interest to fix this vehicle. Anyone who wants to send me an email, I can send you a copy of the estimate with the supplement on this one.(david.lallier@wilmingtonnc.gov) (2/26/20 7:27 AM)
